More expensive, less resistant, more demanding, low-impact alternatives are sometimes still considered usual suspects. But the definition of performance is rapidly changing, encouraging more and more customers to make the switch. From eco-design to printing settings, let’s look at how environmental responsibility and product performance are switching from foes to friends.

High performance or low environmental impact. Why choose?

Looking back to 5 or 6 years ago, environmental-friendly alternatives in the POS advertising industry were niche: expensive, “techy“ and offering limited resistance. Only the purest of players would compromise to such an equation.

Today, the landscape is favourably changing for low-impact materials. And at Antalis, we feel proud to play our part.

Identifying the “real” need

Part of making eco-designed solutions the new gold standard lies in the fact that many believe such materials cannot deliver equivalent durability and performance. However, it is interesting to question the actual use of POS materials.
Often, POS materials are needed for short-term timescales: an event, a product launch, a seasonal campaign, etc. In other words, these solutions don’t have to live forever and durability expectations are sometimes overrated. That’s why changing perspective on the notion of performance is paramount. For short life cycles, valuable and responsible end-of-life is becoming a key element of performance addressing not only the expectations from our customers, but also their users and distributors.

Empowering our customers

Switching to more responsible solutions is an idea that most customers welcome but they don't want to compromise on quality. We are able to deliver solutions adapted to the latest generation printing and cutting technologies through in-depth collaboration with producers, offering genuine quality and cost-effectiveness. Nevertheless, this conversion implies adaptation. That is why we give massive importance to customer support. This translates with comprehensive documentation to adapt printing settings and thorough onboarding processes to ensure our customers are 100% fitted for change. The more we empower our partners, the easier this positive transition gets.

Adopting a holistic approach to our value chain

Combining high performance and low impact is mainly a question of collaboration. Our experience of customers’ needs helps us share specific expectations with producers, making it easier to deliver materials that tick all the boxes, including end-of-life criteria. For instance, by adopting a hands-on approach to conception, Antalis has made cardboard-based solutions - such as DISPA®, Katz Display Boards and Coala Air Board - celebrated alternatives to foam PVC solutionsDepending on you application they deliver everything you would expect from a sign and display board – flat, smooth surface, excellent printability, rigidity and stability – and a unique design made of 100% paper to make end of life easier and with a reduced impact. This type of product truly embodies what producer-distributor-customer cooperation is all about.

Yes, at Antalis, we are committed to going the extra mile and making more eco-friendly alternatives the new normal. Join us on our journey!
